Harborne Pool and Fitness Centre member undertakes a 350km challenge for charity

Ian Jones, a member of Places Leisure Harborne Pool and Fitness Centre, is currently taking on an incredible challenge to raise money for local charity Edward’s Trust. He will be completing a challenge each month from March to July, totalling more than 350km.

On 26th March, Ian cycled the 112km Mad March Hare in 6.5 hours. The following weekend, on April 1st, he hiked 50km around Windsor in 8 hours and 57 minutes. He will be trekking 100km in both May and June, walking through the night to complete the hikes in one go. He's then finishing off with a 3km swim in July.

Ian is raising money for Edward’s Trust, a local charity that supports bereaved families across the West Midlands. They offer counselling and well-being support to children who have lost somebody significant, parents who have lost a child, and families preparing for bereavement, no matter the cause of death.

Ian said: “I’m thrilled to be supporting such a fantastic charity and taking on this challenge for a cause that is close to my heart. Edward’s Trust does amazing work in our local community, and I’m proud to be raising money for them through my challenges.”

Amy Blackadder, Placemaker Manager at Harborne Pool and Fitness centre said “We are incredibly proud and supportive of Ian's efforts in supporting the charity. The funds he raises will enable Edward’s Trust to continue providing vital support to those in need during one of the most difficult times of their lives.”

Ian has set up a JustGiving page where people can donate to support his challenge:
